    What is Azatadine used for?

    Azatadine is used to treat symptoms of the common cold, including runny nose, sneezing, cough and itchy/watery eyes. This medicine is also used to provide relief from symptoms of allergic conditions such as rash, hives and itching.

    Azatadine belongs to a class of medications known as antihistamines. Azatadine works by blocking the effects of a certain natural substance (histamine) in the body.

    Azatadine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

    What is the recommended dosage of Azatadine?

    The dosage of Azatadine prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

    Take Azatadine with a full glass of water. Azatadine can be taken with or without food.

    What if you miss a dose of Azatadine?

    If your physician has instructed or directed you to take Azatadine medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses to catch up for the missed dose.

    What if you overdose on Azatadine?

    Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Azatadine, seek medical attention immediately. Overdose symptoms of Azatadine may include fever, shaking, large pupils, flushing, dry mouth, hallucinations, seizures and weakness.

    What other drugs could interact with Azatadine?

    Azatadine can interact with the following types of medicines: MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, sleep or anxiety medications, muscle relaxants, antipsychotics, antiseizure drugs, opioid pain medications and other antihistamines.
